The Message

Welcome to the heart of mhm's mission - The Message. Our Why. Here, Read some personal reflections about mental health, its impacts and the importance of sharing resources!

Why?

Why do you think it's important to bring awareness to mental health and share its resources amongst our local community ??

" Bringing awareness to mental health and sharing resources within our local communities is crucial because mental health effects everyone, regardless of age, background or situation.  By raising awareness, we help reduce the stigma surrounding mental health issues, making it easier for individuals to seek help without fear of judgement. It fosters a supportive environment where people feel understood and less isolated...

Sharing resources also ensures that individuals know where to turn for help, whether it's counseling services, hotlines or community support groups.

Early intervention can make a significant difference in managing mental health challenges before they escalate.  in addition, when mental health is openly discussed, it encourages others to prioritize their well-being and creates a more compassionate and connected community overall."

"It’s important to bring awareness to mental health because you never know what struggles another person may be facing, unless they decide to speak up about it. Sometimes they might not have the courage to step forward. That’s one of the main reasons I always lead with kindness!

Sharing resources is so important because in most cases, any single person may have no idea where to start. Most people I’ve encountered struggling have no idea where to even begin with getting help."

"Most of the time in our community mental health is pushed to the back burner. We don’t realize how much damage it can do when not treated. At early ages we are kind of taught to be tough, don’t let people see you cry, or be weak. Bringing more awareness to mental health can help reduce stigma and ensure that individuals can access timely support. This proactive approach not only empowers people to seek help when needed but also strengthens community resilience and overall well-being.

"Because people only notice about mental health when something traumatic happens bringing awareness for mental health could help people see that it’s someone out there that actually cares even if it’s a stranger it just shines light on the mental health community it’s bigger than people except a lot people go thru mental health with just everyday life with little things so if awareness became bigger in the community it would help people that’s going thru mental health be comfortable with talking to someone"

"As a black individual, it often feels like we are told to be strong through every situation, to carry our burdens silently. We are expected to dismiss our vulnerabilities as if they don’t exist, even when the weight is heavy.

But it's okay to feel. It’s okay to cry. Our experiences and emotions are valid, and acknowledging them is a courageous step towards healing. Let us create a space where we can express our true selves without fear."
